Asia 2000 Manifesto.

We live in a world that has become a global community. English is the dominant language of that community and Asian societies are among its essential members. In Asia, more people now use English in their daily lives than anywhere else in the world; moreover, English has become an Asian language with its own writers and literary traditions. Writers who write in English from Asia belong to the global mainstream of contemporary English literature. They also belong to Asia, where sufficient audience exists to sustain their work. Local publishers and distributors play an ever greater role in bringing those writers to the attention of both local and global audiences. Asia 2000 is one such publisher and distributor. As we approach the occasion of Hong Kong's return to China, Asia 2000 re-dedicates itself to giving voice to writers who write in English from Asia.
