An excellent Chinese-English dictionary for students of
Chinese, which is also offered in a pocket edition. Unique in showing the
correct stroke order for each Chinese character and in giving variations for
each character from ancient and cursive calligraphic to modern typographic
form. Also gives traditional and simplified versions of each character and
identifies its radical classification. Provides pinyin romanization
for both characters and their combinations. Characters are listed
phonetically and indexed by stroke order/count and by phonetic arrangement.
More than 40,000 entries. Adapted from Maison d’Editions Quaille’s
Dico-pratique Chinois-Français, which has been recommended by France’s
Centre National d’Education a distance and is France’s leading dictionary
for students of Chinese. Edited by distinguished lexicographer Professor Yu
Yaosheng of Shanghai’s Fudan University.
