Amy Leung has an extensive background in teaching groups of people
from many different countries. She was brought up in Hong Kong and
graduated from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 1994. She
made her first foray into the world of education when she started
teaching Mandarin to New Zealander children in 1993. In the years
since her return to Hong Kong, she has taught Cantonese to managers of
multinational corporations. Her approach is unconventional but
successful – as her students attest. Her mission is to let people know
that Cantonese is a widely spoken dialect in Hong Kong, Mainland China
and other countries worldwide, and that it shouldn’t be forgotten even
after the Handover in 1997. She also believes that to make language
learning fun is to make it effective.
Amy also has a Cantonese-teaching column in the English-language magazine, does voice-overs for Securities & Futures Commission and
models on a part-time basis. Amy is a member of the Women’s Forum in
Hong Kong. She is also a member of Women in Publishing Society.
