Annabel Jackson

Hong Kong, Macau and the Muddy Pearl
Travels in the Pearl River Delta

Macau Gardens
& Landscape Art

"Jackson is better known for writing about food and wine, and one gets the impression that it was the search for cuisine that first drew her across the border. That was certainly the case with Macau, where she is an acknowledged expert and consultant on the local food."

Asiaweek

Annabel Jackson was brought up on a farm in the Sussex countryside. She graduated in English Literature and, after moving to Hong Kong in early 1989, worked for Hong Kong Tatler and the South China Morning Post before turning freelance to work for a number of Asia-Pacific and international publications. She was formerly director of public relations at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong hotel.

Best known in Asia for her idiosyncratic food and wine writing, in addition to authoring Hong Kong Macau and the Muddy Pearl and co-authoring with Francisco Caldeira Cabral and Leong Ka Tai Macau Gardens & Landscape Art, Annabel Jackson has published three food/culture books, Macau on a Plate, Vietnam on a Plate and Street Cafe Vietnam. She is now working on a Macanese cookbook.
