Barry Lowe, an Australian, is an Associate Professor in
the Department of English at the City University of Hong Kong where he
teaches journalism. He has a background in the mass media and has
worked as a reporter in several countries, covering issues such as the
Balkan wars, insurgency in SE Asia and environmental problems in the
Pacific. He is also active in documentary production and is currently
working on two major projects: one about the heritage of Portugal's
Asian empire and the other about Hong Kong in the sixties. He is a
regular visitor to mainland China where he teaches short courses in
documentary production to university students majoring in TV
journalism.
