Howard Turk was educated in the United States and Europe. After service with the military and years with CIA, he became an international banker, specializing in Asia. These years engendered a love of China and Chinese history, particularly the turbulent years between the world wars.

He lives with his wife, Karen, in Columbia, Maryland, USA.
