Madeleine Marie Slavick
Round
Poems and
Photographs of Asia

"Madeleine Marie Slavick and Barbara Baker met three years ago at one of the rare poetry reading venues in Hong Kong, the Chinese University. They recognised similarities when they heard each other read, and have collaborated since on several projects, the latest being a book of poems and photographs about Asia, titled Round....Most of the photographs in Round are Slavick's. She has worked as a professional photographer as well as writing poetry. Much of her photography in the book has the quality of painting, concentrating on texture, colour and line."

A resident of Hong Kong for more than a decade, Madeleine Marie Slavick's work has been published and exhibited in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the United States. She is a leading member of Outloud, Hong Kong's highly successful society of English-language poets, and her work is included in the Outloud anthology. In addition to Round, co-authored with Barbara Baker, she has co-authored two books on China: Children in China (also with Barbara Baker) and China, The Dragon Awakes.
