Sheng Peilin Quaille's Practical Chinese-English Dictionary
 
Sheng Peilin was born in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, China, in 1943 and graduated from the Foreign Department, Zhejiang University, in 1962. He is associate professor of English at Wenzhou University. From January 1988 to June 1989, he did research work on bilingual dictionaries as a visiting fellow at the Oriental School, University of Durham, in the United Kingdom. His main publications are Handbook of English Words for Middle School Students, Zhejiang Education Publishing House, 1984 revised in 1995; A Concise English-Chinese Business Dictionary, Zhejiang Science & Technology Publishing House, 1993, revised in 1994, "The Principle of Both Prescribing and Describing in the Compilation of Dictionaries," Lexicographical Studies, No.3, 1999, Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House.

He collaborated with Yu Yaosheng on Quaille's Practical Chinese-English Dictionary in both reference and pocket editions.
